You have not come to Melaka (Malacca) without having done the river cruise. Known for its historic and culturally rich commune, this UNESCO-declared ‘ancient city’ is endowed with a beautiful river that every tourist-both local and foreign- can’t afford to miss.
Hubsy and I had tried this, some three years ago, but that was at night time. On our second visit, it’s with the kids who equally love nature and adventure, plus it’s daytime. And alas! The alligators, the sky train, the graffiti and newly refurbished structures added to our delight.
How much for this priceless journey? Just RM 10 ($3) for a 45-minute cruise.

Been to Melacca once, when I was really young. Didn’t remember much except the trishaw ride and the enormously huge red castle. I hope to visit there again.
The red structure could be the Christ Church Melaka-it does look like a castle. And the trishaws are still there. Except that they may look different now- decorated with some yellow and red flowers, music on loud speakers for every single one of them. More fun!
I also noticed many Singaporean and Malaysian tourists visit Melaka with their big families. Such a joy to see parents walk with their kids around. If I lived in Malaysia, I would frequent Melaka. It’s so laid-back there and almost every building has a story to tell-preserved, mysterious and majestic. You should visit the city soon! You’ll be amazed at how much it has changed.
